Now that we've glossed over the general rules in e-mail etiquettes with your prospect military dates, let's take it a step further and go into the more subtle details. Why am I writing about this? Well, because I want you to leave a good impression on your military single on the line, so that you can move on from being e-mail buddies into IM buddies into phone call buddies, and maybe even become the perfect match of each other's lives!

You ask why I'm so concerned with the e-mails? This is the first mode of communication you'll be establishing, so composing great e-mails is a good start for creating a good rapport. Here are the tips:

1. Do not use CAPITAL LETTERS. Because in netspeak, this is equivalent to shouting out loud or yelling at the other person. So be really careful about that caps lock key.

2. Don't attach anything unless he asked for something. Attachments can range from anything, starting from documents to pictures. Don't attach anything to your e-mail unless he asks for it.

3. Mind the tone. Remember, to keep your tone pleasant, warm and friendly. Don't be too dramatic, exaggerated, or sexy. Imagine that you're talking to a new acquaintance and you'd like to get to know them more. Talking about your problems and misadventures during the first hour seems a little bit off, right? E-mailing prospect online friends should be like that. The first phase or get-to-know stage. You will know when the perfect time is, for you to move on to the next level and make it more personal.

4. Do not curse or swear. None of your online prospect dates will be impressed with your swear-words vocabulary, if you do have one. Using expletives is a no-no, it's a big turn-off.

5. Don't use animations, blinking characters, or fancy fonts. You want to keep things simple. It diverts the attention of your reader to the real content of the e-mail: you.

6. Don't write too long. This is an e-mail and not a 1000-word essay. Be friendly yet direct to the point. Make your paragraphs short and straight forward, shorter paragraphs are simpler to read and understand compared to long ones.

7. Give out sincere praise. If you think that he/ she looks handsome/pretty in their profile picture, then by all means, you may compliment them. But don't give exaggerated comments, okay? Everyone wants to be appreciated but just don't overdo it, it may come out as insincere.

8. Think of a nice and interesting subject line which might catch his eye. The reason why there's a box for the subject line is for you to fill it out. The subject line serves as the "title" of your e-mail's content, think of a catchy phrase to intrigue him. Make it simple and precise. Use a catchy phrase or word to intrigue your reader and make him open it. Make it sound more personal by using the person's first name in the subject line.
